'Here We Are' by Krzysztof Musiał at gallery 'Meno parkas'

On March 21st (Wednesday) at 6 pm in the gallery “Meno parkas” (Rotušės a. 27, Kaunas) will be held the opening of the exhibition “Here We Are”. At the exhibition will be presented works from the collection of famous Polish collector Krzysztof Musiał. Exhibition is organized by Toruń’s (Poland) Centre of Contemporary Art “Znaki Czasu” and Gallery “Meno parkas”.

At the opening of the exhibition will participate Krzysztof Musiał and director of Toruń’s (Poland) Centre of Contemporary Art “Znaki Czasu” Wacław Kuczma. 

In the gallery „Meno parkas“ – presentation of the collection of Krzysztof Musiał – successful businessman, passionate sponsor of the art projects, who earned the title of Polish „Patron of a Culture“ (2002). At the exhibition „Here We Are“ will be shown artworks created after the World War II up until now, selected from the collection of essential Polish collector – Krzysztof Musiał.

One of the most prominent experimenters – Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński, represents the Avant-Garde period in this collection. The achievements of these artists have created the conditions to emerge the phenomenon of Neo-Avant-Garde, which is represented here by Edward Krasiński and Henryk Stażewski.

Important part of the exhibition – works that promotes wider perception of themes about sexuality and works, that speaks about positive and negative aspects of human life. These themes are analized by the artists – Alina Szapocznikowa, Barbara Falender, Łukasz Stokłosy, Karol Radziszewski, Wojciech Ćwiertniewicza.

Exhibition will provide an oportunity to familiarize with the representatives of art groups that were formed in the post-war Polish art. A group from Krakow „Wprost“ (En: „Directly“) presents artworks of well-known Polish artists: Zbylut Grzywacz, Leszek Sobocki or Jerzy Nowosielski. Figurative painting in the collection is opposed by widely perceived abstract art objects in paintings of Wojciech Fangora, Jerzy Tchórzewski, Jan Berdyszak, Tadeusz Brzozowski, Tomasz Tatarczyk, Leon Tarasewicz or Jan Tarasin.

However, the list of the artists whose works will be at the exhibition – much longer, and the collection of the exhibition will provide an oportunity to look at different techniques used by artists.

Collector Krzysztof Musiał – graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology and the prestigious business school INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France). From 1979 lived and worked in Germany, France, England and USA. 1990-2001 founded and headed one of the leading companies in Polish computer market “ABC Data” in Warsaw. Alreday for many years, both in Poland and abroad – sponsors various art projects: exhibitions, concerts, theatre and opera performances, global competitions of young vocalists, literature projects, also collections by other institutions. 

 

Exhibition is part of the gallery’s “Meno parkas” project “Undivided History”. Project is dedicated to commemorate the centenary of the Restoration of the Lithuanian and neighboring States (Poland, Latvia, Estonia) in 2018.
