kimWe are pleased to invite you to the opening of kim? Contemporary Art Centre’s new series of exhibitions on December 8, at 7pm!

As part of the new exhibition cycle, solo-exhibitions of two American artists will be on view; created in collaboration with kim?’s long-term partner the New York-based art space Art in General.
Sara Magenheimer’s exhibition “Feels Everything Like Shopping” will consist of multi-media installations, where language is used as matter, inviting visual artworks to be read as extended sentences. Rachel Rossin’s exhibition “My Little Green Leaf” will present digital and analogue images, which have changed into virtual reality vistas, through the use of programming language.

The 2016 “kim? Residency Award” winner’s Ieva Epnere’s solo-exhibition “Sea of Living Memories” will also open at this time. It was initially on view at Art in General, while the artist was in residence at iscp – International Studio & Curatorial Program. The military heritage of the Baltic coast serves as a research topic in her video works, through which the artist investigates the fates of former army personnel and local citizens.

Belgium-based Latvian photographer’s Diāna Tamane’s exhibition “Message: 147 of 494” will be on view as part of the White Box programme. Comprising an installation, which ensues from personal stories of the artist’s family, it creates a novel, contemporary version of a post-Soviet society’s portrait.

An accompanying event program will take place as part of the exhibition cycle, including artist talks and the kim? day for children and youth.

Exhibitions on view till January 15.
