Artists are expected to give at least one informal public audio-visual presentation about their work during the residency.

HOW TO APPLY: Applicants should fill in the residency application form and send it by email to the address listed on the form, together with visual supporting material and a reference as requested.

General information
Kaunas Photography Gallery residency was established in 2012 to provide an opportunity for national and international audiences to realise the connection between photographic traditions and new conceptual projects, presenting innovative contemporary undertakings as well as traditional humanistic photography projects. With the residency programme we hope to interact closely with talented emerging artists, curators and critics and encourage them to develop and realise their ideas.
Most artists visiting Lithuania participate in activities with a local audience, including artists, curators and art historians working on their personal projects.
From residents we expect an attentive and unique approach to the local identity and culture and sensitivity towards environmental characteristics. Curators, art critics and art historians will be given access to Lithuanian photographers’ archives, a library of photographic publications and direct contact with classic Lithuanian photographic artists and the most relevant arts institutions. As we accept very few residents at a time, this enables a unique experience where introductions and assistance are specifically adapted to the residents’ own interests and practices.

Deadline for residency applications: February 24, 2019

Dates and duration of residencies: From 2 to 6 weeks between March 11, 2019, and December 21, 2019.

Please email your application form to gintare@kaunasgallery.lt by February 24, 2019. Due to the substantial number of applications, only selected applicants will be notified.
The programme is supported by Lithuanian Council for Culture.
