ARSLight Similar to the Light 2 by Jacob Jessen and Kirke Kangro will open at ARS Project Space on September 16 at 6pm.

Light Similar to the Light 2 is a follow-up to an exhibition with the same title by Jacob Jessen and Kirke Kangro at Vaal Gallery in Tallinn in 2014. The previous exhibition looked into the potential for documenting the experiences of light, using also memory and imagination as tools.

The exhibition at ARS Project Space continues to explore the subjects of memory and identity of light. The focus is on daylight – the daily, obvious, life-giving, trustworthy, regular and all-inclusive phenomena. The exhibition offers the possibility to focus on the presence of this light, to acknowledge maybe its one-of-a-kind identity.

The exhibition will stay open until October 15th.

On Sunday, September 17 at 4pm a tour of the exhibition will take place together with the artists Kirke Kangro and Jacob Jessen.

On Friday, October 6 at 6pm physicist Heli Lukner will give a lecture at the exhibition. Heli Lukner is a physicist, lecturer and populariser of science. In her research, she focuses on the formation and measurements of ultrashort light strokes. In addition, she is also the judge of the competition Rakett69 for young scientists and the author of the successful physics manual Füübits. In 2017, she received a Special Prize for the Young Scientist.

The exhibition is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, Estonian Artists’ Association, Estonian Academy of Arts and Trondheim Academy of Arts.
