Metasphere shows the fragile nature of the inner state of a human being. This work portrays a fragment of the everyday perception experience. That includes the process of observation of the surrounding environment and how it interacts with the subjective reflections of it. The round shape of the screen is a symbol of completeness. It is the perception mechanism. There is always something that does not change in the perception and reflection process as well as the variable part that changes in every next situation.

Metasphere is a collaboration between Irina Spicaka (concept, visual design and mapping), Krisjanis Rijnieks (creative code, technical structure) and Platon Buravicky (sound).

Irina Spicaka has studied BA faculty of audiovisual art, department of Visual Communication at Art Academy of Latvia, experimental video and mixed media at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and is working on her MA thesis that is related to electronic audiovisual performance, classical 4:3 video screen deconstruction and generative art. She participates in contemporary art exhibitions, collaborates with sound artists, creative coders, works in graphic design field, works as a organiser / developer / curator in projects that are related to Audiovisual Culture and writes for Latvian Veto Magazine about the mentioned themes.

Krisjanis Rijnieks works in the field of New Media for about 6 years. He has background in Painting and experience with different kinds of New Media creation tools. For the last two years he has been working with Flash ActionScript and different projects that include Creative Coding (using openFrameworks, Cinder, Quartz Composer, Arduino and projection mapping techniques). Currently Krisjanis is doing his MA in New Media at Media Lab Helsinki and is mainly interested in connecting generative graphics with projection mapping. Released his first book Cinder – Begin Creative Coding and is holding workshops within Cinder and Creative Coding context.

The exhibition is open until June 13 at RIXC Media Space, 11. Novembra krastmala 35, Riga (entrance from Minsterejas street)
