‘Human factor. Bodies’ by Andrius Erminas at (AV17) gallery

On 6th of September, at 6 pm (AV17) gallery will be holding the opening of Andrius Erminas exhibition “Human factor. Bodies”.

“Human factor” is a theme that the artist has been working on for more than seven years now. An important role at the “Human factor” is played by the artist as an individual living at the contemporary society. The theme also describes human characteristics that influence psychological, cultural, social, technical or natural processes of life.

At the exhibition artist presents his newest works that are all connected by the main “body” theme. In this exhibition, body is perceived as matter, which has associative connection with subconscious experiences. This chapter of „Human factor“ is balancing between reality and the unknown while questioning their limits. The broadness of these limits, according to the author is revealed when analysing the inner states of human being. Andrius Erminas only depicts certain fragments of the imaginary body and creates various plots that the viewer can construct in his own way, based on his own experiences. Most of the fragments of the imaginary body presented at the exhibition are the symbols from childhood. Based on psychoanalysis theories, childhood experiences have a direct impact on the adult life and in one way or another influence the reactions to certain situations, perception of our environment and the self. The artist also speaks of existential themes familiar to everyone: such as the meaningfulness of life, self-realization and our ups and downs. This in many cases depends on the individual’s worldview and is a direct effect of our childhood experiences. Andrius Erminas (b. 1971) is a sculpture, object and installation artist, who lives and works in Vilnius. He had graduated BA in fresco-mosaic and MA in sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Artist had been granted with a national stipendiums for culture and art and other recognition awards for his creativity.
