Group exhibition ‘Parade’ marks 25th anniversary of Baroti Gallery, KCCC Exhibition Hall

Baroti Gallery and the KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens str. 2, Klaipėda) invite you to the opening of the anniversary group exhibition “Parade” of Baroti Gallery, marking the 25thanniversary of one of the oldest art galleries in Klaipėda, on Friday, 21st of July, at 6 PM.

“Parade” consists of four different though interconnecting expositions, extending throughout all of the spaces of the KCCC Exhibition Hall and continuing even in Baroti Gallery.

The collection of the works presented in the grand hall of the 1st floor of the Exhibition Hall shows a particular metamorphosis of Lithuanian art language from the mid-twentieth until today. Despite the rather wide range of time, the presented works are modern in their nature, and even though they preserve different existential tension, they communicate with one another.

“Labyrinthus” of Dainius Liškevičius is exhibited in another hall of the 1st floor of the Exhibition Hall; the project was first presented in the Contemporary Art Centre in winter of 2014. It is a complex project combining the forms of architecture, sculpture and installations, and the genres of personal collection and retrospective.

An exhibition of five contemporary art authors of the younger generation is presented on the ground floor. This exposition is different not only for its creative forms, such as video works, installation or performance, but also for rather keeping away from the existential themes favoured by older authors. A work of art in the exposition of the young artists is seen as an observation tool, which allows seeing the hardly visible phenomena of bodily perception as well as phenomena of society or natural sciences.

On the day of the opening of the “Parade” there will be a performance of Austėja Vilkaitytė, in which, running through various different dance history genres and creating new roles, she is going to present her new choreography specially created for the works exhibited at KCCC Exhibition Hall. This performance will be presented anew in the same or completely different form the following day as well, on Saturday, the 22nd of July, at 3 PM.

The painting works and objects presented at Baroti Gallery are the ones usually circulating through art salesrooms and art collectors. It is an extremely eclectic collection of works, representing not only the current events of the art market of contemporary Lithuania but also the backstage of Baroti Gallery itself: the exposition consists mostly of the works which spend their time in the storage of this gallery. The audience is welcome to go through the part of the collection as well as to explore the archives of the works which have not been included in the exposition.

The exhibition will run until the 13th of August, 2017.
