Geistė Marija Kinčinaitytė & James Wilkie. ‘The eyes are most sensitive to red’ at Sodų 4

The eyes are most sensitive to red – is an experiential space created to present Geistė M Kinčinaitytė’s project Bodies inside out, which explores articulations of corporeality in contemporary artists’ moving image installations that aim at intensifying emotional and bodily sensations. The baroque aesthetics and logic defined in Gille Deleuze’s The fold: Leibniz and the Baroque (1993) functions as a device exploring an intimate and dynamic movement between the viewer, image, and screen. This research has been presented in Rome in 2016 and Paris in 2017 at the conferences for cinema and media aesthetics.

For The eyes are most sensitive to red, composer James Wilkie has created a sound installation by responding to algorithms’ reactions to the luminosity of the projected image and screen surface. Like water, the image spills out of the frame and generates a space through sound.
