Private view of the exhibition „Kunstraum: Hybriden“, by young Lithuanian artist Povilas Ramanauskas, will be held on 24th of May (Friday) at 7 p.m. (local time) at Meno Parkas Gallery in Dusseldorf (Dorotheenstrasse 22).

Since the beginning of my painting studies, I started to experiment with various techniques and materials. It was, and still is, very interesting to search for the limits of painting. Where is painting, where we can name an artwork as a result of the expresion of painting, and where it‘s „not-painting“ anymore. How relevant is the concept of it in contemporary art in general?

It wasn‘t enough for me to create the illusion of space in two-dimensional plane. I tried and do trying many various and non-traditional materials, surfaces and different painting techniques, in the process of creation. There are many possibilities for the contemporary painting, and I seek to search and discover as many visual variations as possible.

A consistent search for the expantion of contemporary painting possibilities in creative work, moving from two-dimensional to spatial painting, including space, experimenting with techniques, materials and other art forms, such as installation, object, sculpture, has become daily creative practice of mine.

Flexible Painting in both, physical and ideological value, speaks of the wide and open, visual and conceptual possibilities of contemporary painting. I analyze relationship between artwork and object, painting and installation, the synthesis of sculpture and intertwining of media. Hybrid – an artwork, between the result of a painting process and object of installation.

Exhibition will be open until 29th of June.
