Meno Parkas Gallery (Kaunas, Lithuania) and gallery SLA307 will present their joint exhibition on the 29th of June at the venue of SLA307 (307 W. 30th St. New York, NY 10001). There will be presented Aušra Andziulytė (LT), Robertas Antinis (LT), Agnė Jonkutė (LT) ir Angela Okajima-Kempinas (USA). Hashtags of their works are sometimes overlapping. When it happens they extend the meanings or turn the story a new way. Artworks selected for this exhibition rather represent research process and search for the method than ready art product in the modernistic sense.

If asked Robertas Antinis would say – perhaps process will never end. Once artist has told that his father Robertas Antinis the elder (also renown sculptor and very important figure in Lithuanian history) instructed him to stop at some point, decide and embody the idea. But Robertas Junior is rather interested in creative process. He is constantly researching his own and the Other‘s fields of experience. He is seriously determined never to become the slave of the surface beauty, always keeps experimenting with materials, forms, keeps teasing and provoking his spectators. His creative work is quite often connected with language and meanings of terms. That is something in common with Angela Okajima-Kempinas. She is professional ceramicist gaining inspiration from semantics of the language and writing signs. Angela‘s conceptual works are made with brilliant but not self-purposeful craftsmanship and glowingly clean esthetics. Red exclamation mark that looks like a petal but is a human connection sign. Aušra Andziulytė is a painter from head to toe – from life philosophy, way of seeing to the artwork – keeps on looking for that special light sliding down the landscape. Ripples of red and rust in her paintings never depicts; they are symbols taking roots in real nature, but Aušra allows viewer to choose decoding cipher for the view. Agnė Jonkutė also relies on light a lot. Not only in its image-revealing feature, but also on its physical affect. Light and time are her paint and brushes. Agnė allows landscape to imprint itself on a paper, chooses minimalistic and ecologic attitude towards creative work, environment and human, using as little intervention as possible and allowing life to flow its own way.

These artists of rather different backgrounds and generations have something in common – contemplation and introspection, arising questions for their constantly changing „self“, analysis of signs and notions being born and also keeping to individual method for spotting and collecting their clear self-moments in today‘s world of increasing speed.

The exhibition is a part of international-cultural exchange project „Art Line“.
The project is part financed by Lithuanian Council for Culture and Ministry of Culture.
