A day after kim? Residency Award 2017 is announced, Robert Leckie, Curator at Gasworks international exhibition, studio and residency programme in London will speak about the artistic programmes at Gasworks where one of the finalists of “kim? Residency Award 2017″ – Ieva Kraule, Maija Kurševa, Krišs Salmanis or Evita Vasiļjeva – will stay for three months in Spring, 2017.
Established in 1994, Gasworks is a non-profit contemporary arts organisation working at the intersection between UK and international debates and practices. Gasworks regularly commissions and produces new work by emerging and underrepresented UK-based and international artists, made public through four solo or group exhibitions each year and placed in context by an extensive public programme of talks, screenings and performances. The organisation also provides studios for London-based artists and hosts sixteen residencies annually, enabling international artists to research and develop new work in London.
Robert Leckie is a London-based curator. He has been Curator at Gasworks in London since 2011, where he runs the exhibitions and residencies programmes. At Gasworks he has commissioned and curated solo exhibitions by a broad range of international artists.

Donna Haraway is a prominent scholar in the field of science and technology, a feminist, and a science-fiction enthusiast who works at building a bridge between science and fiction. She became known in the 1980s through her work on gender, identity, and technology, which broke with the prevailing trends and opened the door to a frank and cheerful trans species feminism. Haraway is a gifted storyteller who paints a rebellious and hopeful universe teeming with critters and trans species, in an era of disasters.
Brussels filmmaker Fabrizio Terranova visited Donna Haraway at her home in California, living with her – almost literally, for a few weeks, and there produced a quirky film portrait. Terranova allowed Haraway to speak in her own environment, using attractive staging that emphasised the playful, cerebral sensitivity of the scientist. The result is a rare, candid, intellectual portrait of a highly original thinker.
Screening is followed by a conversation with Fabrizio Terranova, moderated by the collaborators of the exhibition MULES.

“In a juncture of time, known as near future, the New world is flourishing on numerous beautiful islands (spread out) all over the globe. Earlier in the millennium the goddesses flooded the earth and got rid of right wing extremists and other abhorrences who had fled the megacities to live original lifestyles in rural areas beneath sea level. The New Population known as FRIENDS are traveling around in gay-as-in-happy-cruise-liners in between the communes of Gaia Archipelago.
One day when the cruiseship Kinship throws anchor close to a former viking graveyard, ancient aryan souls take possession of the towel-art embellishing the cabin beds: swans, apes, elephants, more swans, singles and couples. Swarms of towel animals attack the unsuspecting passengers in an attempt to claim Kinship as homeland…”
Pliancy and weakness are expressions of the freshness of being. Because what has hardened will never win.

Within the flow of the evening programme, Pair of Dogs karaoke will mingle with presentation of MEGAzine, a new publication that collects all crucial image and text material around the exhibitions MOLES and MULES; the evening will fade into an artist talk with the collaborators of MULES and the artist Josephine Pryde.

Pair of Dogs started as a Donna Haraway cover band. Now they present their new counter-original double feature “Oceans of Notions”. Come and sing the ballads of our times!
– MEGAzine presentation
The MEGAzine emerges from the MULES show’s installation of an interwoven carpet landscape to make hidden thoughts visible, undercover secret companions and make magic tricks appear. The zine collects our collective processes through written materials from MOLES and MULES, which includes, but is not limited to: valuable tips on how to teleport successfully, what to fill your backpack with for an emergency and personal horoscopes. You’ll find everything you need to know for your own thrilling adventure in the pages… We share the zine with you; lay it under your pillow and stay in contact with us!
– Collaboration(s): institutional and practical, formal and personal – discussion about the backstage of the exhibitions MOLES and MULES: the making of an exhibition as a collaborative work; string figure as method of exhibition as storyteller, and making kin while practitioning art on a daily basis.
The discussion will be moderated by the artist Josephine Pryde and the practitioners of MOLES and MULES: Lydia AD, Carl Berzow, Mania Godarzani-Bakhtiari, Isabel Gatzke, Max Göran, Annika Högner, Egija Inzule, Elias Johansson, Ekaterina Reinbold, Caio Soares and Michel Wagenschütz.
