The odds of not meeting in this life are so great that every meeting is like a miracle. (Yoko Ono)

Why does a performer stand on the stage and a spectator stand by it? Does the musician perform his music by drawing it from the music stand and pouring it right to the spectator’s ears? Does the spectator only drink or also draw the music and swim together with it? What does the musician draw, while playing without an instruction, any arrangement from before or from above? Does he still remain a performer? Is the spectator still just a spectator? From where to where do the sounds flow? How does it greet and farewell the dams? What is the purpose of the stage edge? Does it separate our competences? Does it express the respect to the creative space, or maybe to the time taken to go from the bus stop to the concert hall or even from an idea to action? Do letters, names and strings of thoughts isolate us? Or maybe it unites our curiosity? Can I climb over the fence without knowing if there is a ground behind it? Is it possible to balance on the top of the fence? Why does the dog bark?

“Why does the dog bark?” is the series of magic events, that will start with an opening at the project space “Malonioji 6” and extend in the various spaces of Vilnius. A big group of people from “Rasa Rasa” band is participating in this event. “Rasa Rasa” is a continuous project, established in New York by such musicians as Kenny Wollesen, Jonathon Haffner, Sean Francis Conway and Dalius Naujokaitis-Naujo, who used to play in Himalayas, Wollesonic Laboratories, Now We Are Here, Bombshell Boom Boom and the Nublu Orchestra. Musicians, inspired by traditional Lithuanian multipart songs, brought together the collective, connecting electronic and acoustic music, improvisation and a unique style of conducting. Thanks to this four-piece band, Lithuanian musicians and artists began collaborating closely with New York music scene that strengthened intercontinental meetings.

This is a practice more than a group – performers and spectators induldge the random beauty, that bloom through every participant’s experiences and its’ combinations throughout the concert. Musical meetings going on for four years already are hardly squeezed into the style frames. It should be just experienced.

“Why does the dog bark?” is the first show of “Rasa Rasa” group members, during which the stage experience subbordinated by the blubbering time will transform to a gallery space. Performances will take place along with the exposition of visual artworks at the project space “Malonioji 6”, and the concert “Why does the dog bark?” will be held on August 13th in Kirtimai Cultural Centre.
