Gytis Skudžinskas’ exhibition “Diaries, Sketches, Quotes and Other Daily Routines or Gys CHAOS” will be launched at Prospektas Gallery (Gedimino Av. 43) on 6 November, 5.30pm.

This is not the beginning, but neither is it the end. This exhibition is not a completed, summarised artistic project. It is an accumulation of things found, first ideas of new works, unfulfilled conceptions. Occasionally, as time passes, they change shape, appear new and transformed. Oftentimes, these “UNNECESSARY“ images that lie in the pages of notebooks and sketchbooks, gather dust in bottom drawers, or are hidden away behind bookshelves find new connections, establish dialogues and create unexpected meaningful references.

It is a personal archive of everyday’s „stream of consciousness and images” practice.

On the other hand, these objects that exist in the intermediary state might be perceived as a representation of a journey of how disinterested being, creation, an unarticulated idea become a legitimate work of art.

In the art scene, Gytis Skudžinskas (b. 1975) is active as a photographer, a curator and a book illustrator. His creative practice is not limited to one genre: the author uses drawings, objects, and installations. Through personal exhibitions, the artist’s works have been presented abroad in such galleries as “Villa Ruh” (Germany), WerkStadt Kulturverein Berlin e. V (Germany) and in Lithuania: “Post” Gallery, Vilnius Academy of Art Exhibition Halls “Titanikas”, Si:said” gallery and others.

On the 15th of November, at 5pm. there will be a guided tour with the author.

The exhibition will run until the 30th of November

The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture
