Opened on May 8 at the Office Gallery of Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art the installation „Formula of order. Inventory” concentrates on institution, be it culture establishment, family, marriage, state leadership or any other institution operating according to regulations.

Each room characterizes the value and perception system of the person living or working there as well as its lifestyle and chosen profession. By making inventory, one makes an unemotional accounting of facts, encouraging having a critical gaze at the structure of institution. During the process of inventory gathering of necessary as well as unnecessary shows whether the „body” of the institution is able function fully or its functions are partly blocked by unhealthy things for its organism. We are creating an installation out of useful, useless or this-might-be-handy-sometime items found at LCCA, also turning whole office into living installation and encouraging also the visitor to participate in creating the installation,” is how the artists present the idea of the exhibition.

The installation „Formula of order. Inventory” is created in four takes. First the artists together with LCCA employees create the basic exposition, later representatives of other professions taking care of the most important functions of the society – justice and order, visual understanding of the world and mobility – are invited to ‘bring in their own order’. Also all spectators are encouraged to participate in creating the artwork.

Ieva Saulīte is an artist and a curator. She accumulates professional experience by participating in various visual-arts-related events as well as exhibitions in Latvia and abroad. In this project Ieva is both project manager and artist.

Agnese Rudzīte – Kirillova is known within the Latvian art context as a sculptor, internationally acclaimed for her work at sculpture festivals using ephemeral materials (sand, ice, snow, fire). The artist actively participates in exhibitions in Latvia and abroad.

Installation „ Formula of order. Inventory” will be open to visitors until June 6. The installation is the closing event in the COOPERATION+CONTEXT series.
