European women on the move: gender, migration and belonging in Anne Lise Stenseth´s “Kiss and Waste project” 2007-11, and the recent project “Qvela peri – Ara peri” 2014.

Anne Lise´s works challenge the premises on which our community is based. She investigates the definition of normality and sets the focus on deviations from the norm – things that we often believe are universally given, which arouse a sense of ambivalence between the community and the private sphere. Stenseth explores different ways of storytelling, from the documentary to the fictional often by impressionistic and poetic means. Over the past 15 years she has mainly worked with video portraits/essays, in which the subject of investigation is either person(s), place(s) or both. In addition to video she uses photography, text and sound.

Norwegian artist Anne Lise Stenseth lives and works in Dale I Sunnfjord and has shown her work in many venues nationally and internationally including Museum Folkwang, Germany, Tent, Rotterdam, Liverpool Biennial and countries like Libanon, Kosovo, China and Australia.

At the moment Anne-Lise is in A-I-R in Nida Art Colony (http://nidacolony.lt/en/524-nida-a-i-r-in-january-2015). Among several other projects, Anne-Lise Stenseth will continue her work and research for an ongoing project about female figures in history and the present with the intention of adding a Lithuanian female figure.
